A Dominican institution dedicated to empowering hearing impaired learners for a bright future.
Consider enrolling your child into our institution, where the focus is on learning practical skills, and integrating seamlessly into society. Boarding facilities are available for all hearing-impaired, with support from the government funded BEAM program. View the admissions page for more information.
Yes, our core curriculum is the same as for other schools. Our primary school learners take 7 years to go through their curriculum, as do other schools. But our high school learners complete their 'O' level curriculum in 6 years, whereas other schools do it in 4.

In addition to the core curriculum, our learners are provided with life skills via our vocational and technical courses.

Parents and prospective learners are invited to come for an assessment at the school. Learners who meet the requirements of the assessment are then enrolled into the school.
Our institution is specialised and as such, learners do have to pass an assessment at the school.
Parents are encouraged to be responsible for the school fees of their children. However, some assistance is offered by the government run Basic Education Assistance Module (BEAM) to help with the tuition and boarding for the hearing-impaired learners in both our primary and high schools.
Since our primary school is mixed, (inclusive education), the hearing learners are expected to fully cover their tuition.
Our vocational and technical courses help our learners gain practical and entrepreneurship skills, which empowers them to find jobs, or employ themselves after high school. Our learners tend to excel in these practical subjects. The high school learners proceed to take examinations in Carpentry and Joinery, Bookkeeping, Computer Word Processing, Bakery Studies, Garment Construction & Textile Technology, Business English, Business Calculations, and Stone Carving with the Higher Education Examination Council (HEXCO). Upon successful completion, they earn a National Foundation Certificate.
We are constantly engaing with various sponsors and stakeholders in order to fund and facilitate the improvement of our institution and the education we can provide to our learners, so as to better prepare them for the world.
This project sought to create an eco-friendly dishwashing liquid, emphasising sustainability and hands-on learning. The project not only taught learners about chemistry, entrepreneurship, and environmental responsibility, but also fostered teamwork and innovation.
We constructed greenhouses to allow for year-round cultivation in controlled environments. This have enabled us to significantly increase vegetable production, with which we supply the kitchens in our boarding facilities, and our practical cooking courses.
Emerald Hill is subject to many power-cuts which disrupt the functioning of our boreholes. Installing solar-powered pumps will enable us to establish a reliable and consistent water supply to the school, hostels and garden.
