PROJECTS

CURRENT

Overview

SUMMARY

We are constantly engaing with various partners, sponsors, and stakeholders in order to fund and facilitate the improvement of our institution and the education we can provide to our learners, so as to better prepare them for the world.

Renovation Project
We are currently working to renovate many of our buildings, starting off with the girls' dining hall.

Interactive Boards Project
We are currently working to have interactive boards in all our classrooms since they provide a better mode of conveying complex information to hearing-impaired learners, by use of images and videos.

Borehole Projects
We are currently working to improve the consistency of our water supply, and engaged in two projects to improve the functioning of our boreholes so as to improve the reliability and consistency of our school's water supply.

Sewing Machine Project
We are working to ensure that learners have access to reliable and modern equipment for their Textile Technologies and Home Economics classes.

Renovation (Girls' Dining Hall)

SUMMARY

The images above show the girls' dining hall undergoing renovations.

What is the main problem that this project is trying to fix?
A classroom is more than just four walls. Many of the facilities and much of the infrastructure at the school are decades old and in dire need of repair, refurbishment, or replacement.

How will this project fix the problem and benefit the learners?
A well-equipped and facilitated school will allow us to support a wide range of educational and boarding activities that are crucial for student development.

OBJECTIVES

  • Complete renovation of the girls' dining room.
  • Secure more funding and resources for further renovations

NEXT STEPS

How can you help or participate in this project?

  • Donations: Financial and material contributions can be made towards the purchase and installation of new furniture and equipment for our classrooms and boarding facilities.

Borehole Solar Pump Project

SUMMARY

Why is this project important?
Consistent access to clean water is fundamental for the health, hygiene and overall well-being of our learners and staff, and for the productivity of our horticultural garden.

What is the problem that this project is trying to fix?
Our school currently relies on boreholes for its water supply. However, due to the unreliable electricity supply in the area, the school often faces challenges in pumping water from these boreholes, leading to water shortages that affect the daily operations of the school.
How will this project fix the problem and benefit the learners?
By installing a solar pump, the school can harness the abundant solar energy available in our sunny Zimbabwean climate to pump water from the boreholes, ensuring a consistent water supply, independent of the electricity grid.

OBJECTIVES

  • Evaluate the school’s current water needs and future projections.
  • Conduct a feasibility study on the installation of a solar pump system.
  • Secure funding for the purchase and installation of the solar pump.
  • Install the solar pump and integrate it with the existing borehole system.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the solar pump system.

NEXT STEPS

How can you help or participate in this project?

  • Donations: Financial contributions can be made towards the purchase and installation of the solar pump.
  • Volunteering: Individuals with expertise in renewable energy systems, particularly solar pumps, can offer their skills and time to assist with the installation and maintenance of the system.
  • Partnerships: We can work with solar technology companies, water management organisations, and educational nonprofits etc. to establish mutualy beneficial educational and environmental initiatives.

Borehole Deepening Project

SUMMARY

Why is this project important?
Consistent access to clean water is fundamental for the health, hygiene and overall well-being of our learners and staff, and for the productivity of our horticultural garden.
What is the problem that this project is trying to fix?
Our school currently relies on boreholes for its water supply. However, these boreholes are no longer deep enough to consistently provide water, especially during dry seasons.
How will this project fix the problem and benefit the learners?
By deepening the boreholes, we can reach more consistent water sources, ensuring a steady supply of water for the school.

OBJECTIVES

  • Conduct a hydrogeological survey to determine the optimal depth for the boreholes.
  • Secure funding and resources for the borehole deepening project.
  • Hire a professional drilling company to deepen the boreholes.
  • Implement a maintenance plan for the boreholes to ensure their longevity.
  • Educate the school community about water conservation.

NEXT STEPS

How can people help or participate in this project?
People can help by donating funds or resources for the project. They can also volunteer their time and skills, for example, by helping with the hydrogeological survey or the educational program.

Interactive Boards

SUMMARY

What is the main problem that this project is trying to fix?
The main problem for hearing-imparied learners is access to knowledge. Our primary method of teaching is the Auditory/Oral Method. However, a lot of information is nevertheless lost in this process due to the difficulty of immeditaley and easily illustrating many topics and ideas.

How will this project fix the problem and benefit the learners?
Interactive boards are a mode of delivery much better suited to our learners, enabling teachers to quickly convey, thanks to images, videos, screen shots, what they are talking about. Moreover, it would enhance the interaction with the learners.

OBJECTIVES

  • Secure more funding and resources for the interactive boards

NEXT STEPS

How can you help or participate in this project?
Financial contributions can be made towards the purchase and installation of new interactive boards.

Sewing Machines

SUMMARY

Why is this project important?
Our learners are take vocational and technical courses in Textile Technologies and Home Economics which prepare them for careers in textiles, retail and boutique fashion.

What is the problem that this project is trying to fix?
Many of the current sewing machines at the school are outdated or in disrepair, which hinders the learning process and limits our learners' ability to fully engage in the practical classes.
How will this project fix the problem and benefit the learners?
By purchasing new sewing machines, we can ensure that learners have access to reliable and modern equipment. This will enhance their learning experience, allow them to work on more complex projects, and better prepare them for future opportunities in the textile industry.

OBJECTIVES

  • Research and select the most suitable sewing machines within the budget.
  • Secure funding for the purchase of the new sewing machines.
  • Purchase and install the new sewing machines.
  • Train the learners and staff on how to use and maintain the new machines.

NEXT STEPS

How can people help or participate in this project?
People can help by donating funds towards the purchase of the new sewing machines. They can also contribute by volunteering their time to help with the installation and training process. Additionally, spreading the word about the project can help attract more support and resources.
